NTSD (New Wave of __________) is a free and open-source program written by April Dunigan. It is the successor to the Professor Oak's New Theory System, and is meant to help novice players learn how to play the Pokémon games. The most notable change with NTSD 2.7 is that it now includes all elements such as physical/special/status moves, items, move tutor locations and more things that were not present in older versions of Professor Oak's New Theory System. It also includes various bugs and glitches that will allow you to catch certain Pokémon not intended for normal play, and also includes the new type – Dark. There are two options of NTSD 2.7 available on the Windows Operating System. The standard version, which comes with some more advanced features, while the Lite version is stripped down of these features in order to remain low-intensity so it does not perform extremely slow while using almost no memory space on your computer. This allows users to have a stable program that runs smoothly without being high maintenance, while the advanced features are reserved for those who want more functionality from it. This can be changed at anytime with changes made in the configuration file. NTSD contains various glitches and bugs that allow the player to catch certain Pokémon that are not normally available in many play throughs. The biggest two features that it includes is the Shinx Catcher Glitch, which allows you to capture a level 1 Shinx with 1HP perfectly legitimately, and the Mew Glitch. This is because of ways NTSD works differently than other Pokemon games. There are also some smaller minigames included for entertainment purposes. One of these includes the Battle Arcade, where you get to choose 6 Pokémon at random (including legendaries), and battle against other Pokémon while avoiding obstacles (such as Creepy Eyes). Also included is a small puzzle game called Puzzle Master, where you must match the correct tiles and clear them to continue on. The overall purpose of NTSD is to allow new players to play through the games more easily and realize how the mechanics work without getting stuck on something they don't understand for an extended amount of time. It also contains information such as how abilities work, or how certain Pokémon interact with each other or their environment. NTSD is meant to be used with ROM files of the actual games, so players can feel as if they are playing through them without any actual risks of losing their save file.
